During the last four weeks I’ve been sucked into the terrifying vortex of end-of-life care for a loved one. Initially having a cursory knowledge of the adult care system, I have had to learn at breakneck speed, and during this turbulent time I have been introduced to the most incredible human beings – care professionals who are collectively compassionate, courageous, and empathetic. Many don’t look typically Anglo-Saxon, but their appearance is irrelevant since the content of their heart is truly beautiful.
If you have been wooed by the fascist rhetoric of Farage and the putrid divide and conquer politics based on colour of skin, rather than the kindness of spirit within, I hate to break it you, but your Union Jack shorts and Reform UK rosette won’t protect you when you are vulnerable, scared, and alone.
Fuck you Farage, and hang your head in shame Starmer, for fuelling this disgraceful and damaging narrative that seeks to blame all of our nation’s woes on those people who don’t look the way many mistakenly think represents our best interests.
